Positivity rate dips to 1 pc, recovery rate touches 95 pc

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 599 fresh cases, taking the infection tally to 3,08,011, while nine more deaths pushed the toll to 4,195, officials said.
Out of the fresh cases, 161 were from the Jammu division and 438 from the Kashmir division, the officials said.
They said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 161 cases, followed by 62 in Kupwara district.
The number of active cases has dropped to 13,532 in the Union Territory, while 2,90,284 patients have recovered from the infection so far, the officials said.
The death toll due to the disease rose to 4,195 as nine patients-five from the Valley and four from the Jammu Division, died in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the officials said there were 20 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as one fresh case was reported since Sunday evening.
The COVID positivity rate in Jammu district has dropped to 1 per cent, while the recovery rate has touched 95 per cent in Jammu district, said Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg today here at a press briefing.
He said that recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases. He informed that as recovery rate is better than the rate of new active cases, the bed occupancy has reduced in GMC.
Regarding vaccination, he informed that 5 sites have been designated for second dose and 3 sites made available for first dose. He urged the people to book their slot online and get vaccinated. He also informed that a total 6.65 lakh have been inoculated including 3.7 lakh in 45+ age group and more than 76 thousand between 18-44 age group, who have been inoculated with first dose of the vaccine.
The Deputy Commissioner said that under Covid morality survey SAKSHAM, 70 families have been identified so far, out of which 47 families have been verified, who will be provided with pension/scholarships as provision under the scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed that 20,000 construction workers have been provided assistance worth Rs 4 crore so that they can survive in the desperate times of Covid-19.
In a related development, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer visited Home for Mentally Challenged Children (Muskaan) at Channi and provided Oxygen Concentrators to the Child Care Institute under patronage of Social Welfare Department.
The Social Welfare Department Jammu is entrusted with the responsibility to provide oxygen concentrators to the child care institutions across Jammu division which has been donated by United Way India (NGO). Over 25 oxygen concentrators would be distributed among the CCIs of Jammu division.
The distribution started from Home for Mentally Challenged Children (Muskaan) by the Div Com. The same way other CCI would also be given oxygen concentrators to ensure that the children who already are in need of special care do not suffer for want of oxygen during the pandemic.
The oxygen concentrators would provide relief to the children who in case develop Covid related complications or any other problem.
