JAMMU: Fulfilling long pending demand of people, the blacktopping work of road from Karan Bagh (main road) to GGHS, Bhour was inaugurated by Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch on Monday. A number of PWD officials led by AEE Vikram Balowria and Corporator of Ward-73 Prof (Dr) Youdhvir Singh besides a number of people were also present on the occasion.
The inauguration of development works commenced with offering Prayer (Ardas) by Mahant Sahib who prayed to the Almighty for welfare of all. Wishing positive cooperation from residents so that overall development of area is ensured, he hoped that work will be completed without hindrance within stipulated time-frame. The importance of the development work, in one of the most backward wards of Gadigarh, can be accessed from the fact that it is being taken up by a pioneer development agency PWD, after a gap of 18 years.
With commencement of blacktopping, mostly residents were seen happy and contented. They expressed gratitude towards concerned authorities particularly Chief Engineer PWD A K Kikloo and Executive Engineer Rajan Gupta and Councilor Prof Youdhvir Singh for their cooperation and positivity towards project.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Youdhvir Singh informed people that 900 meters black-topping work, at an approximate cost of Rs 26 lakh, will be done with wet-mix base of 4 inch thickness. “Apart from it, lane of Unique Public School and two lanes of Karan Bagh Colony will also be blacktopped soon,” said Prof Youdhvir Singh, thanking all well-wishers , intellectuals and youth from all walks of life in the nativity for their relentless efforts and cooperation.
The Management Committee members of Gurdwara Singh Sabha Bhour led by Balbir Singh, Inder Singh Treasure, Balvinder Singh Secretary, Rasbir Singh, Charanjit Singh SDM (Retired), Niranjan Singh of National Hospital, Mohinder Singh (former Sarpanch) and Khem Raj Sharma were also present on the occasion.
