REASI : The Reasi Police arrested a habitual thief identified as Parvaiz Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Malipeeth, Kishtwar on Tuesday.
The accused was absconding in case FIR numbers 04/2016, 73/2016, 98/2017 & 129/2015, all under Sections 457, 38o & 34 RPC registered in Police Station Reasi and the warrants in this regard were issued under Section 512 CrPC by JMIC Reasi.
As per reports, the thief was a habitual offender in committing offences of house breaking and theft.
The FIR number 98/2017 was registered against the accused after he committed theft and decamped with gold bangles, neckless, rings & other ornaments from the house of Kewal Kumar, son of Soba Ram, resident of Shiv Nagar, Reasi.
In the year 2016, the accused committed another theft in the house of Satish Kumar, son of Kirpa Ram, resident of Shiv Nagar, Reasi and decamped with gold ornaments of (the then) worth ₹ 2,70,000 and FIR number 73/2016 was registered against him in Police Station Reasi.
In another case of theft under FIR number 4/2016 was registered against the accused when gold ornaments and cash of worth ₹ 10,000 stolen from the house of Pawan Kumar, son of Krishan Lal, resident of Salal in which crime was proved against Perwaiz & chargesheet was produced in the court of law.
The accused was arrested in all the three cases and stolen items of jewelry were recovered from him possession, however, he got bailed out in all the three cases.
During investigations, all the three cases were proved beyond doubt against the accused and chargesheets were resubmitted against him in the court of law.
To avoid conviction, the accused jumped the trial proceedings by going underground in all the four trials. It took more than three years for Reasi Police to pick clues, trace & arrest the thief Parwaiz Ahmed.
By coordinated efforts, the police team chased the accused and arrested him. The four warrants under Section 512 CrPC issued by Court of JMIC Reasi against the accused on 03/09/2019.
The Case FIR no 228/2010, under sections 454, 380 RPC; FIR no 129/2015 under sections 454, 380 RPC; FIR no 39/2016 under sections 457, 380 RPC & FIR no 112/2013 under sections 454, 380 RPC were also registered & proved against the accused in Police Station Reasi. He is facing trial in these cases in court of law in Reasi.
