Webinar held on promotion of Yoga

JAMMU: Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine (AYUSH) J&K has been organizing Yoga Saptaha to mark the celebration of 7th International Day of Yoga. As per the guidelines of Ministry of AYUSH and current year theme ” Be with Yoga, Be at Home” due to the prevailing pandemic situation, most of the activities are being organized from various virtual platforms in collaboration with other departments under the guidance of Director Indian Systems of Medicine, AYUSH J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh.
The purpose of conducting the webinar series is to promote Yoga in collaboration with various departments in different spheres of life. In this series, a webinar was conducted in collaboration with NHM and Directorate of Health Services Jammu, wherein resource persons from the two organizations gave their insights about how Tripple A model i.e. ASHA, ANM, Anganwadi workers can be rationally engaged for spreading the message of Yoga in the community for the public wellbeing with more focused emphasis on Non-communicable Diseases, Adolescent & Reproductive Health.
Dr Jitender Mehta, State Nodal officer DNB, ASHA program manager from State Health Society, NHM, Jammu and Dr. Narinder Bhutyal Medical Superintendent DRDO Covid Care Hospital were the speakers in the program and briefed about the need of collaboration between AYUSH and Health Department to make Yoga accessible to community.
The webinar was also attended by Community Health Officers from AYUSH Health Wellness centers, Mid Level Health Professionals, ASHAs, ANMs and Anganwadi workers, who shared their experiences in Promotion of Yoga in the community settings and at Primary Health Care Level. Guest speakers and participants appreciated the initiative of the Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine for conducting the Webinar in collaboration for Integrative Primary Health Care.
