5 bootleggers nabbed with 148 bottles of illicit liquor

JAMMU: Police on Thursday nabbed five bootleggers with 148 bottles of illicit liquor at Gharota. As per details, in an act of alertness and prompt action, a party of Police Station Gharota led by SHO Gharota Insp Khyati Maan Khajuria while on patrolling duty rounded up three suspects from different locations namely Harendra Kumar, son of Ram Naresh, resident of Mawai (UP) at present Deharan Tehsil Bhalwal; Rakesh Kumar, son of Shakeena Ram, resident of Gurah Pattan and Parveen Singh, son of Devi Singh, resident of Thathi. During search, total 129 bottles of illicit liquor i.e., 26 bottles (750ml) and 103 bottles (180 ml) were recovered from them. Both the accused were arrested and FIR Nos. 54, 55 & 56/2021 under section 48(A) of Excise Act respectively were registered at Police Station Gharota. The overall arrests and recoveries were made under supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
Meanwhile, a party of Police Station Ghagwal led by SHO Ghagwal Inspector Rakesh Sharma while performing patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area noticed a person moving under suspicious circumstances near Brick kiln at village Raghu Chak, Ghagwal. During frisking, a total of 13 bottles of liquor (750 ml each) were recovered from possession of accused, who was identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Bua Ditta, resident of Harsath Ghagwal, Samba. He was arrested on the spot and FIR No. 127/2021 under Section 48 (A) of Excise Act was registered against him at Police Station Ghagwal.
In another incident, acting on reliable information regarding bootlegging at Neehama Kulgam, a party from Police Station DH Pora led by SHO DH Pora under supervision of SDPO DH Pora raided a location. On the occasion, one Shakir Ahmad Shergojri, son of Ghulam Qadir Shergojri, resident of Gadihama Kulgam was caught red handed while indulged in selling Illicit liquor. On checking, 6 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession. He was arrested and FIR No 67/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station DH Pora and investigation started.
