POONCH: Busting a gang involved in theft and lifting of vehicles, Poonch police on Thursday arrested prime accused of a case and recovered five motorcycles from his possession besides manhunt has been launched to nab other members of gang.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Vinod Kumar said that in recent weeks, few complaints regarding theft of some vehicles were received at Police Station Poonch, after which a team headed by SHO Poonch, Sureshwar Dev Singh Charak started investigation and rounded up some suspects.
One of the suspects, identified as Mohammad Kabir, son of Jalal Din, resident of Qasba, being prime suspect, kept on changing statements, after which he was put to thorough questioning, during which he broke down and confessed involvement in crime. On his disclosure, five motorcycles have been recovered so far that include motorcycle with registration numbers JK05D 4116, Bajaj Pulsar JK12 5410, Bullet JK12B 5397, Bullet JK-12A 8499 and Hero Glamour JK14C 1045. Police has further launched a manhunt to nab other members of the gang.
Police further said that installation of CCTVs at community level in residential areas and at business establishments should be encouraged by civil society and further said that police in the district has already stepped up its patrolling, especially during night hours, to prevent such thefts.
