Dir Horticulture reviews progress of dev activities in Jammu Div

JAMMU: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak on Saturday convened a meeting of Chief Horticulture Officers, Manager-cum-chemists and Horticulture Development Officers of Jammu Division at Horticulture Complex Talab Tillo, Jammu to review the progress of various developmental activities (Physical & Financial) being carried out during the current financial year.
Threadbare discussion was held on various agenda points.
The officers appraised the chair about the status of various works, expenditure incurred, liabilities, progress made in the implementation of various developmental schemes and production of quality planting material in the Departmental Nurseries.
He reviewed the last year fruit plant production targets and achievements and also set a target of producing ten lakh fruit plants in the departmental nurseries during the year 2021-22. He sought special focus on production of grafted walnut plants.
The Director instructed the officers to ensure effective implementation of Departmental schemes for the ultimate benefit of the fruit growers. He also emphasized on judicious and full utilization of funds in time.
He directed them to gear up for Ultra High Density plantation of Mango with new varieties in the coming rainy season in sub-tropical areas.
He emphasized the introduction /plantation of exotic varieties.
The Director also directed for early completion of the census of Horticulture crops started in two Districts of temperate area so that other districts can be covered in a phased manner.
Deputy Director Planning Jammu, Assistant Director Horticulture Jammu and other officers were also present in the meeting.
