Yudhvir appeals to LG for addressing artists’ issues

JAMMU: Yudhvir Sethi, J&K Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President has sought Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s intervention to address the burning issue of the artists’ sufferings on account of resorting to nepotism and favouritism by the Cultural Academy which has not cleared their dues for long besides its failure to adopt transparency in the work allotment to artists.
A delegation of artists’ fraternity today met Yudhvir Sethi and apprised him about the problems being faced by them. BJP leader Harvinder Singh was also present.
The delegation members said that the authorities at the helm of affairs in Cultural Academy have adopted the policy of favouritism as a result of which all the artists are not getting work equitably. They alleged that while there is no transparency in allotment of works, the dues of artists not in good books of the authorities continue to be pending despite running from pillar to post for the same.
After listening patiently to the grievances of the delegation, Yudhvir Sethi expressed resentment against the Cultural Academy authorities for not clearing the dues of artists associated with this Academy. He said that it is unfortunate that despite no shortage of funds especially after becoming a Union Territory, the situation is so dismal that dues are not being paid.
Sethi said while the successive governments had been resorting to step motherly treatment to the people of Jammu region in every sector. Now after abrogation of Article 370 such attitude will not be tolerated at any cost.
The Senior BJP leader impressed upon the concerned authorities of the Cultural Academy to adopt transparency while allotting works so that everyone gets equitable opportunity. He also appealed to the Lt Governor to take note of the Artists’ sufferings and direct the Cultural Academy to clear their dues besides adopting transparency in the routine work of the establishment.
The delegation comprised of Rajesh Kumar, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rajput, Ravi Ahirwar, Neeraj Sharma, Karan Bangotra, Amit Sharma, Rahul Magotra, Jiteshwar Mehra, Sachin Mehra, Vikas Bhagat, Shubam, Acme Sharma, Nazuk Bhagat, Manpreet Gill, Amisha, Shivali Rai and Sanjana Sharma.
