International Yoga Day 2021 celebrated

JAMMU: International Yoga Day 2021 was observed with zeal and passion across region on Monday. A number of social, political organisations, Govt offices and educational institutes organised a number of programmes to commemorate the day, amidst strict observance of COVID-19.
To commemorate International Yoga Day 2021, under guidance of Vice Chancellor, Dean Students Welfare and NSS wing of faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Jammu organised a Yoga session in sports complex of main campus Chatha, which was attended by a number of students and faculty members. The programme was coordinated by Dr Subhash C Kashyap, NSS coordinator and assisted by Dr Akhil Gupta, Dr Arvinder Singh, Dr Nomita Laishram, Dr Balbir Dhotra, Dr Divyendu, Physical instructor Neeraj Gupta and Radheyshyam.
Dr S E H Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences; Dr Lalit M Gupta, Prof & Head, Division of Agro-forestry and Dr Anil Bhat, Assistant Professor AEABM also participated in the Yoga session.
Jammu Municipal Corporation celebrated 7th International Yoga Day in different wards of JMC wherein Yoga training was imparted to Safaikaramcharis and other sanitation field staff of Corporation under supervision of Dr Sanjogita Sudan, Health Officer JMC. The training was organised on theme ‘Yoga for Wellness’. Besides, Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, Dy Mayor Adv Purnima Sharma and all Councilors as well as officials of JMC participated in the event through Google Meet, conducted under guidance of Yogacharya Mahavir Gupta from NGO Arogya Bharti.
All Jammu based units and establishment of Jammu sector, CRPF celebrated 7th International Day of Yoga. In Group Center Jammu, a Yoga session was held which was attended by 83 officers and Jawans. Yoga session was inaugurated by Bhanu Pratap Singh, DIGP, GC CRPF, Jammu. After giving brief information about International Day of Yoga, he highlighted importance of Yoga. The session, which was conducted under guidance of Prem Chand Gupta and Yoga instructor HC/GD Shyam Prakash Mishra, culminated with ‘Yoga Vandana’.
To mark International Yoga Day 2021, the Department of Indian System of Medicines J&K and Government Ayurvedic Hospital, under guidance of Director ISM Dr Mohan Singh and Medical Superintendent Dr Vandana Dogra, organised a programme at 166 Battalion CRPF Sidhra, Jammu. On the occasion, a team of Yoga experts led by Dr Jitender Kumar MD, Dr Amardeep Kour NAM and Neelam Kumar demonstrated various Yoga Asanas. The session was inaugurated by Second in command 166 Battalion CRPF Shashikant and attended by a number of Jawans and officers.
To make the International Yoga Day a memorable occasion and keeping the spirit of Van Mahotsav alive, a tree plantation drive was undertaken at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, led by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, K. K. Sharma. The participants were informed that 10000 fruit bearing, ornamental and forest trees will be planted all over the Jammu Division under “Go Green Plantation Drive”. Others who participated in the plantation drive included Joint Director(Farms), Rajinder Sharma, Joint Director (Mushroom & Apiculture), Iqbal Singh, Joint Director (Marketing), Rajan Sharma, Agronomist Vegetable, J. C. Raina, DD (Training), Anil Bakshi, DD (Planning), Rishi Gupta, Agriculture Chemist, Rajeev Verma, Agriculture Economist, Vivek Kohli besides other senior officers of the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu.
