STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: NSS unit of KC College of Education in collaboration with Live for Others Being Helpful Foundation celebrated the 7th International Day of Yoga on Monday. With the enthusiastic participation of 80 students from various colleges, faculty and staff members, the celebrations spread from June 19 to 21, 2021. Preceding to the yoga day, virtual practice sessions were organized on June 19, 20 and 21. On the first day, expert Yoga Instructor Ritu Sharma initially briefed about the essence of Yogic exercises on the health of individuals and thereafter, held a long practice session with demonstration of Asanas. Faculty, staff members and students enthusiastically participated during the practice sessions on all preceding days to acclimatize the body to Yogic exercises. The participants were introduced to Yogasanas, Kapalbhati, Pranayama, Dhyna, Sankalpa and Meditation. Prayers were recited before and after the programme. Practice of the same was continued on June 19 and 20. On the day of International Yoga Day i.e. on June 21, 2021, an enthralling practice session with demonstrations was held. The celebrations on Saturday started with the welcome address by Dr. Sanjay Tickoo, Principal of the College. He addressed the gathering about importance and benefits of practicing Yoga in everyday life of an individual and highlighted its potential for customization to suit the individual during such hard time. He, along with other participants, actively participated in the practice session. Whole programme was organized by Priya Gupta, NSS Programme Officer of the college and was arranged by Arya Mahajan, NSS volunteer with active support from Live for Others Being Helpful Foundation. To conclude the workshop a vote of thanks was presented by Priya Gupta. All participants were awarded with E-certificates.
