JAMMU: NSS GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan organised an webinar on Elder Abuse Awareness And Helpline celebrating Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The resource person Sameer Ul Mehraj (FRO Srinagar/Budgam) motivated the volunteers to join this awareness drive and about National helpline number 14567 for senior citizens in Jammu and Kashmir.
The social organization working in almost all the districts to reach out for help and assistance against all forms of abuse. Elder Abuse has been categorized into three wide categories: first, neglect, including seclusion, social seclusion and rejection; second, abuse of legal, human and medical rights; and third, lack of choices, status, finances, respect and decisions.NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan emphasised on the theme for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day “Access to Justice” which serves as a reminder of how critical it is to completely meet the needs of older people who may seek remedy.
