JAMMU: To commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Department of Students Welfare, under the patronage of Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu organised an online poster making contest on the topic ‘Say No to Drugs’.
Students from affiliated colleges and university departments have submitted their posters which assimilate their creativity and imagination.
Complementing the participants for their creative endeavour, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Prakash Antahal informed that the informed that since the offline activities have ceased substantially because of COVID onslaught, the Department of Students Welfare has organised and devised scores of online activities for the students and stakeholders of the university and would carry on this series with more such events of social relevance. Speaking about the contest, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Vishav Raksha informed that the Day is observed every year on 26 June to spread awareness about the problems caused because of drug abuse around the world with the aim to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
This year, its theme is ‘Share Facts On Drugs, Save Lives’.
As sharing of credible data along with factual information, is the only way to fight misinformation about usage of drugs. She also informed that the results of the contest would be declared next week and the winners would also be awarded certificates.
The event was organised by the Department of Students Welfare under the guidance of Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare and Prof. Vishav Raksha, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee and was coordinated by the members of Campus Cultural Committee with technical assistance from Mansi Mantoo, Ifra Kak and Sumeet Sharma.
