4 People have lost faith in bureaucracy
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Apni Party, Provincial President, Jammu and former Minister, Manjit Singh on Monday said that holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir is significant for peace and development especially when the bureaucracy has failed to win over the confidence of the people.
“The bureaucracy has added to the mercies of the people in both the regions. Therefore, elections should be held so that a popular Govt could work for the people and end the suffering of the people who have left with no representation after August 5, 2019,” said Manjit Singh while addressing a meeting of Apni Party’s District Presidents and Coordinators to discuss organizational issues and prepare future courses of action to increase their mass base across the Region.
The meeting discussed various organizational issues, and held threadbare discussion on the current political situation in J&K.
During the meeting, Manjit urged the District Presidents and Coordinators to work among the people so that the mass base of the Party increases and establish contact with them.
He said, “There is anger among the people because of the disconnect of the administration in absence of an elected Govt. Further delaying elections may not be in the interest of J&K. The developmental projects and even small works have been delayed and there is no one to question the delaying practice adopted by several departments.”
“There is visible disappointment among the elected Panchayat Members, BDCs and DDCs as the officials do not listen to them. The basic purpose of strengthening the Panchayat Raj System in J&K was to encourage participation of the public in developmental works. However, it is not happening because of arrogance and disconnect between public and administration,” he said.
He said that the Panchayat members feel their voices are not heard and the opinion of BDCs and DDCs about administration is also not different.
He urged the Govt. to make the officials accountable and the elected members of Panchayati Raj should be given due respect and their developmental plans must be fulfilled, besides resolving their issues.
The membership drive of Apni Party was also discussed besides many other issues during the meeting at Apni Party Office in Gandhi Nagar.
Prominent among those who participated in the meeting included Provincial Secretary, Dr Rohit Gupta, District President Jammu, Kishtwar Mohinder Parihar, Udhampur District President, Hans Raj Dogra, District President Jammu, Pushp Dev Kumar Uppal for Jammu Rural-A, Neiljan Arora for Jammu Rural-B, District President Samba, Raman Thappa, Ex-MLA and District President Kathua Prem Lal, Ex-MLA Fariq Nath, J&K Trade Union, President, Ajaz Kazmi, State Vice President Youth Wing, and Media Coordinator Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, SC State Coordinator Bodh Raj Bhagat, OBC State Coordinator Madan Lal Chalotra, J&K Youth Wing, General Secretary, Abhay Bakaya, Provincial President, Apni Student Wing, Anuj Manhas, State Coordinator Displaced Kashmiri Pandits- Jammu, Vinod Pandita, Incharge Coordinator Chenab Valley Adv Umar Malik and Vaibhav Mattoo.
