IRP 19th Bn observes ‘International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking’

Kathua: Under the guidance of Commandant IRP 19th Battalion SSP Benam Tosh, “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking-2021” was observed at all company headquarters to raise awareness among officials , their families, kith & kin and public of the jeopardy of drug abuse and way out to stay away from this fast spreading malaise.
While all the companies simultaneously organized awareness programmes at respective company Headquarters , the main programme was organized at Battalion Headquarters Kathua strictly following SoP in which officials threw light on the drug menace and its ill effects on health and also suggested measures to put an end to this ugly evil.
Those who delivered informative lectures at the main programme held at Battalion Headquarters Kathua included Deputy Commandant SP Santokh Raj,Deputy SP Kuldeep Raj Tripathi, SI Kamal Kishore, Asha Sharma, Surjeet Kumar, Asha Dhanwal & Jatoon Begum.
All the speakers emphasized the need for creating awareness in respective areas of responsibility, provide counseling to the addicted subordinates and younger members of family and take all possible preventive measures to curb this bane of modern society.
SSP Benam Tosh on international day against drug abuse exhorted the officials and young people to stay away from drug abuse and to increase awareness among colleagues and public of the health hazards and social perils owing to addiction. He said that drug abuse was also prevalent in ancient times, but the dangerous way the youth are falling prey to it now a days is worrisome and matter of grave concern. He further suggested that the parents should ensure that their wards ,if studying away from nativity do not join company of addicted elements and that they pursue studies with aims, objectives & goals in life. Benam Tosh added that Cops being highly disciplined, well- trained, should behave as role models exhibiting ideal civilized manners whenever on duty, should exercise complete control over senses, should subdue evil inclination that drags into drug abuse and above all should respect own self. Addicted persons can make the most of Drugs De-Addiction Centers and can easily get rid of the menace with conviction, he told.
