Rs 34 lakh pension fraud case solved; Cyber Police nabs woman fraudster from Ludhiana

JAMMU: Cyber Police Station Jammu on Tuesday apprehended a woman fraudster involved in Rs 34 lakh pension fraud case. FIR No 10/2021 was registered under sections 66D of IT Act, 420 of IPC at Cyber Police Station Jammu. The accused woman Daljit Kour, wife of Shingara Singh, resident of Sahnewal, Ludhiana Punjab has been arrested.
On February 20, 2021, a complainant namely Inder Pal Singh, son of Des Raj, resident of H. No. 03 State Bank Colony, Talab Tillo, Jammu reported at Cyber Police Station Jammu that he was duped by unknown fraudsters on pretext of buying units of Canadian Pension fund and convinced him for good returns. The complainant, Inder Pal Singh got trapped in luring offer and consequently lost Rs 34 lakh in consecutive 36 transactions.
During course of investigation, the Cyber Police succeeded in identifying woman accused whose three bank accounts in Yes Bank, Kotak Bank and Bank of India were involved in transactions and in which, total of Rs 24 lakh of complainant’s defrauded money was credited from complainant’s account.
SP Cyber Police Station after ascertaining the location of the accused, conducted raid at Sahnewal Ludhiana, Punjab and arrested her besides recovering two mobiles and SIMs as well as eight banks Passbooks/two ATM cards registered on her name.
Further investigation revealed that she is a Graduate of 1980. She was brought at Cyber Police Station Jammu after completing all legal procedures. Police is also searching for other fraudsters involved in the offence. Further sustained questioning of the arrested accused by Police is going on to ascertain involvement of the accused into the case.
Cyber Police Jammu SP Naresh Singh has appealed to general public not to share bank OTP, UPI PIN etc and never get lured with cheap online offers floating on social media and other online platforms offering products with unjustified and cheaper price. Never completely rely on information like customer care numbers, fake links etc floating on web space which often pop up on your screen as part of search results history on search engines. Review periodically security of your online accounts. Stay alert and vigilant against these online fraudsters, said SP Naresh Singh.
