JAMMU: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has produced a charge-sheet against Mohammad Shafi Bhat, the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Kupwara and 5 others for purchasing pipes on exorbitant rates. As per an official spokesperson, the sleuths of ACB produced charge-sheet before Anti Corruption Court Baramulla against Mohammad Shafi Bhat (the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Kupwara), Abdul Gani Bhat (the then Head Draftsman, R&B, Division Kupwara), Gh Rasool Dar (the then Storekeeper R&B Division Kupwara), Mohammad ShafiQazi (then AAO R&B Division Kupwara), Lateef Ahmad Ganie (Proprietor M/s Lateef & Co) and Sajad Ahmad Rather (Proprietor M/s S I Traders).
He further said that investigation conducted by ACB in FIR No.13/2011 has proved that accused Executive Engineer R&B Division Kupwara and his associate officials purchased Mild Steel Pipes and Galvanized Iron Pipes on highly exorbitant rates, thereby causing a loss of Rs 4,61,000 in purchase of MS Pipes and Rs. 69,630 in purchase of GI Pipes to State Exchequer. The investigation has thus established the commission of offences under sections 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt 2006 read with sections 467, 468, 471 of RPC and 120-B of RPC against accused public servants and private suppliers, he said, adding that next date of hearing is 21 August, 2021.
