JAMMU: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray Jammu and Kashmir unit has expressed anguish over the cancellation of Machail Yatra and appealed to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to reconsider the decision.
In a statement issued to media from the party’s office here today, Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit President, Manish Sahni said that the cancellation of the holy Machail Yatra for the second consecutive year is highly condemnable.
He said that it is an irony that despite every activity having been unlocked now, the religious programmes especially the pilgrimages by the devotees are not being allowed for the reasons best known to the government only.
What could be more unfortunate and disappointing for the Hindu devotees than the fact that the Govt issued instructions first for the cancellation of Amarnath Yatra and now for Machail Yatra.
The Shiv Sena President appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to reconsider the decision of cancellation of Machail Yatra and allow this Annual pilgrimage with instructions to ensure strict following of COVID SOPs by the devotees participating in the holy Yatra.
Meanwhile, Manish Sahni castigated the “so called” Hindutva leaders for maintaining silence on this sensitive issue despite the religious sentiments of lakhs of devotees having been hurt due to the cancellation of this Annual Yatra as well as that of religious pilgrimages.
General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Chairman Rakesh Gupta , Vice president Sanjeev Kohli , Secretary Balwant Singh, Praveen Gupta and Rakesh Handa were present on the occasion.
