Courses on handling IEDs, developing soft skills commence at Police Academy Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: A 5 day course on “Development of Soft Skills” and 6 day training course on handling Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) commenced on Monday here at Police Academy Udhampur.
Deputy Director (Indoor/Trainings) (SSP) Mohan Lal (SSP) inaugurated the twin courses.
In his inaugural address, Mohan Lal said that the course on “Soft Skill” has especially been designed to bring attitudinal and behavioural changes in police personnel and enable them to become problem solvers and not problem creators. “The course focuses on developing soft communication skills and bring attitudinal changes and improving interpersonal relationships among the police personnel as well as reducing stress level among them” he said. He said well distinguished faculty/Guest lecturers from various esteemed institutions have been invited to improve motivational level among police personnel. Regarding the 6 day course on IED, Mohan Lal said that the course has been designed to train the police personnel in handling the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). He said keeping in view the present security scenario in the UT J&K, the field staff of the J&K police need to be imparted training in handling the IED and disposing of the threat thereof, for they being the front line warriors for ensuring the safety of public and property. During the training course, on spot tests of explosive substances, examination of post blast scene, letter and parcel bomb, IED demonstration and various other Dos and Don’ts would be mainly focused, he added. He also advised the course participants to stay careful, attentive and alert while undergoing practical training on IED in the Academy in view of the dodgy affects of such devises.
Lastly, he said that Police Academy Udhampur is putting in earnest efforts under the leadership of Dr. S.D.Singh, ADGP/Director Police Academy to ensure that the course participants who have come here from different corners of the UT J&K are really benefited and yield best results.
Among others, K.K Sharma, Asstt. Director (Q) SKPA Udhampur; Tahir Hussain, Asstt. Director (Admn.); Sanmati Gupta, Asstt. Director (Outdoor); Ramesh Kataria Pvt. Secretary to Director SKPA Udhampur were present on the occasion.
