Jammu wants Drone shooters to be honoured

JAMMU: With public acclaim growing over the downing of IED laden Drone in Akhnoor sector of Jammu District on Friday, a widespread demand is being made for honouring the sharp shooters of Jammu police to recognise their valour and presence of mind.
On Friday, according to officials, the Jammu and Kashmir police averted a cross-border terror plot by shooting down a drone carrying improvised explosive device (IED) material weighing five kg in the border belt of Jammu district.
They said that following information about a drone flying over the border belt of Kanachak along the International Border (IB), a quick reaction team (QRT) of the police swung into action and shot it down using anti-drone strategy in the early hours.
Spotting of drones continuously for days has compounded the public concern as the threat has potential to jeopardize the normal way of life in strategically sensitive winter capital of the Union Territory.
Jammu Citizens Forum, a public-spirited body comprising media, intelligentsia, legal fraternity, trade & commerce bodies and former veterans and retired officers, have hailed the police for path breaking achievement in tackling the machinations of Pakistan, its notorious intelligence agency ISI and indoctrinated terrorists. The forum has demanded public disclosure of the brave hearts who made Jammu police proud by shooting down the 5 kg-IED laden Drone, thereby averting a major catastrophe.
“It will be an honour to felicitate the valiant cops, as per the proud tradition of the Citizens Forum to acknowledge the services of the brave security forces from time to time”, a spokesperson said.
