Khelo India Wushu Women League commences

SRINAGAR, Nov 4: The opening ceremony of Khelo India Wushu Womens League-2022 North Zone was held at SK Indoor Sports Complex, here today.
Dr Hina Shafi Bhat, Vice Chairperson J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board inaugurated the four days Khelo India Wushu Women’s League as chief guest, being organized by Wushu Association of India in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and Sports Authority of India (SAI).
She said that the initiatives of the Government of UT J&K will not only provide jobs to the athletes under sports quota, but will also shape the ‘Naya Jammu and Kashmir’ by eradicating the evils of the society.
More than 500 women athletes of 8 States/UT’s i.e. Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir Teams are participating in this League. Khelo Zonal Wushu Women’s Zonal League commenced from J&K and will be held in Manipur, Jharkhand, Kolkata and Kerala.
After the culmination of the Zonal level Khelo India Women’s League, the National level Khelo India Women’s League will be held in sub-junior, junior and senior categories.
Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee) presented vote of thanks. In his brief note, he thanked the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, SAI & Wushu Association of India for the allotment of Zonal level Khelo India Wushu Women’s League to J&K. He thanked the J & K Government under the leadership of Manoj Sinha (Lt. Governor) for making the sports priority especially among women.
Dy Director SAI Nadeem Ahmad, Krishan Kumar, Suhel Ahmad (CEO Wushu Federation of India), Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee), PN Azad, Bhavneet (General Secretary Wushu Association of J&K) and Billiques Mir (Director Water Sports J&K Sports Council) were present on the occasion.
