J&K Boys team’s historical win in 48th Junior National Volleyball Championship hailed


JAMMU: The sports lovers in general and volleyball in particular in J&K have hailed the victory of J&K boys volleyball team in 48th Junior National Volleyball Championship which concluded at MA Stadium, here yesterday.
The historic victory, for the first-time in J&K, has been spectacular and unprecedented.
According to experts, the Volleyball Association of J&K has led J&K in establishing its position at national level by securing bronze medal in the team wise event.
Despite inadequate infrastructure due to non- availability of indoor playing fields our boys underwent rigorous coaching camp of 21 days prior to commencement of National Volleyball Championship at Jammu.
According to sports activists our youth are second to none in the country in their talent potential but needs constant coaching under the expert coaches who should periodically update themselves with latest techniques of the game to compete at national as well as international levels.
The Championship was organized by Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the auspices of Volleyball Federation of India.
The Departments of Youth Services and Sports, J&K Police, CRPF, SAI, JMC, Health and Excise extended their full cooperation in making the mega event a grand success.
Apart from this, J&K Bank, NHPC, LIC, Indian Oil, CVPP, STATE TIMES also supplemented the organizers for hosting the event at Jammu after gap of 14 years in J&K.
The host team really created history by beating Tamil Nadu boys who were 47th Junior National Volleyball Champions, which was held at Burdwan, West Bengal last year. The host team defeated Tamil Nadu by 3-2 sets (25-18, 25-27, 22-25, 25-18, 15-12 ) in this Championship.
The Association thanked all departments / Agencies for their support for this mega event.
MP Lok Sabha, Jugal Kishore Sharma was the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony who gave away prizes medals/trophies to the best adjudged six teams in boys and girls sections of the Championship.
The office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K headed by Sidharth Daluja left no stone unturned in making the week long championship successful.
