Salaries withheld, SDAO Kangan relieved from duties

Srinagar, Nov 28: The district administration Ganderbal has ordered withholding of salaries of all the Agriculture Extension Officers, and Assistants of the district’s Sub Division, Kangan for their poor performance under PM Kissan Scheme while as the Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Kangan has also been relieved for the duties.
In this regard, the directions have been issued by the Deputy Commissioner as per which the salary of all these Extension Officers shall remain withheld till the targets under PM Kissan are achieved in full up to November end, 2022.
The officials said that while reviewing the progress of PM Kissan by the Chief Secretary it has come to the fore that the progress of PM Kissan in District Ganderbal is very low despite strict directions issued apart from noting that no further leniency will be accepted.
In this regard, officials said that the Additional District Development Commissioner was directed by the DC Ganderbal to conduct a joint meeting of the Agriculture and Revenue Departments for better coordination and early completion of work related to PM Kissan.
“The ADC Ganderbal proceeded to Tehsil Ganderbal, Wakura, Lar and Tullmulla on 24.11.2022 to review the progress of PM Kissan and consequently considerable progress was noticed on 25.11.2022 wherein 465 PM Kissan Data was uploaded,” the officials said.
Further, it was informed that on November 26, the ADC, Ganderbal proceeded to Sub Division Kangan which was pre-planned and all the concerned were informed well in advance for the scheduled meeting.
Officials said that all the patwaris, Girdawars, Naib Tehsildars, Tehsildars, and SDM Kangan were present, “but no one from Agriculture Department participated in the meeting, despite being the main players of the PM Kisan Scheme.”
Notably, the officials said that the meeting notice was circulated through the official Whatsapp group to all concerned and on the same day ADC, Ganderbal also visited Tehsil Gund where Agriculture Extension Officer was present which clearly shows that the Agriculture Department know about the scheduled meeting.
“Upon the given facts, it has been ordered that the salary of all Agriculture Extension Officers/ Agriculture Extension Assistants of Sub Division Kangan shall remain withheld till the targets under PM Kissan are achieved in full up to November 30, 2022.”
At the same time, the Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Kangan has also been relieved from the Charge and District Agriculture Officer (Extension) Ganderbal shall hold the charge of Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Kangan till further orders.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Kangan has also been directed to inquire into the matter and submit a factual report regarding unauthorized absence and poor performance under the PM Kissan within seven days positively and also enquire how the salary in favour of Agriculture Officers/ Officials of Sub Division Kangan has been drawn despite their poor performance.
