Pakistan’s Taliban has called off a shaky ceasefire agreed with the government in June and has ordered its fighters to stage attacks across the country. The declaration came a day before the appointment of new army chief General Asim Munir, who is taking charge of the military at a time when its popularity and reputation has been severely dented.
