Doodpathri – all set to host first snow festival cum job fair

SRINAGAR: To boost winter tourism at the tourist destination Doodhpathri, the authorities in Budgam district are going to conduct first snow festival cum job fair on February 2 at Doodhpathri. Pertinent to mention here that Doodhpathri is a green open meadow and beautiful valley in District Budgam, about 42 Km from Srinagar and administration is working hard to promote the place as an attractive tourism resort just like Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
District Development Commissioner Budgam district, Syed Fakhrudin Hamid, told that the district employment and counseling centre Budgam in collaboration with district administration Budgam, is going to conduct a snow festival cum job fair which is likely to boost the tourism sector and create employment avenues as well. “Unemployed youth of Budgam district who are desirous to participate in this event are requested to register themselves on the departmental website. Information of the snow festival cum job fair has been provided to public domain across the district,” he added.
The DC further informed that all those candidates who will register themselves are requested to bring along their CVs for on spot recruitment. He said that job offer letters will also be provided to selected candidates during the festival. “13 companies will participate in the event wherein unemployed youth will be exposed to various job opportunities,” he asserted. The DC further told that snow-related activities like snow skiing race on ATV, snow biking, sledge race, bicycle race, and cultural and sports activities will be performed in the festival. “There will be proper snow clearing of roads leading towards Doodhpathri,” he informed.
It is important to mention here that last year Tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir organised a festival at Doodhpathri to boost tourism and attract tourists. Doodhpathri is a favorite destination for locals during the summers as the cold breeze and lush green forest provides relief to visitors.
