Kerala journo Siddique Kappan released from UP jail after 2yrs

Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan was arrested near Mathura while going towards Hathras, where a dalit girl had been allegedly raped and killed. Kappan was lodged in the Lucknow jail in a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case. Lucknow jailor Rajendra Singh confirmed his release. Walking out of Lucknow jail on Thursday morning, Siddique described his arrest and his subsequent bail as half baked justice. “For me it was justice delayed. It was half baked justice. He said his only crime was that he happens to be a journalist. They (police) said that I am the founding member of PFI which is false. I am a journalist and that is my only crime. Journalism is like activism and that is not a crime,” Siddique said as he walked out of the jail compound.
