PP Chinore’s Munshi lands in ACB’s net, caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 8,000

JAMMU: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu on Thursday arrested Selection Grade Constable (SgCT) Mohd Sultan deployed as Munshi at Police Post Chinore, while demanding and accepting bribe, for release of complainant’s son.
As per ACB’s official spokesperson, on Thursday, ACB Jammu’s team received a written complaint wherein the complainant stated that Police Post Chinore arrested his son Sahil Mehra in a false and frivolous case on complaint of another resident of Chinore.
“Further, one Mohd Sultan, an official (Munshi) of Police post Chinore demanded Rs 8,000 as bribe for release of his son from police custody,” the complaint stated.
The complainant further stated that he had already paid Rs 4,000 out of demanded bribe, but Munshi Mohd Sultan again demanded balance bribe amount of Rs. 4,000 for release of his son.
The complainant stated to ACB team that as he didn’t want to pay bribe but the accused official compelled him to pay bribe and under compelled circumstances, he have to pay balance bribe of Rs. 4000 to Munshi. On this, a trap team was constituted which caught SgCT Mohd Sultan red-handed while accepting bribe. Sultan was arrested on the spot and further investigation is going on.
