Interacting with the media persons, Tarun Chugh said that he has submitted a memorandum to the Union Railway Minister with regard to the construction of Rigo Bridge, Vande Bharat Express at Ludhiana, Crossing Bridge at Sahnewal Junction and many other works to be completed at the earliest.
Chugh said that Rigo Bridge was built during the British era and it is the life line of Amritsar. The Sangat coming from abroad and the city’s population of 5 lakh were facing difficulties due to lack of its maintenance.
He said that out of little over Rs 111. 30 core, Rs 48. 79 crore have been earmarked for the Heart Rego Bridge in Gurunagari Amritsar, about Rs 5 crore for LHS at Sahnewal-Amritsar junction crossing, Rs 46. 90 crore for Vande Bharat B-route in Ludhiana Sahnewal and Rs 10.30 crore have been sanctioned for LHS between Jalandhar and Jackson.
Chugh thanked the Narendra Modi government and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav for this decision, saying this reflects the vision of the Prime Minister and his commitment towards the development of Punjab.
Chugh said that the construction of Rigo Bridge in Amritsar will solve the problems of about 1 lakh people of Gurunagari. Apart from this, the construction of B-route for Vande Bharat will increase the connectivity of Ludhiana with other cities and people will be able to reach their places in less time. The construction of the bridge will relieve the Sangat coming to Guru Nagri from the traffic congestion.
Taking dig at the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state, Chugh said that 100 percent allocations have been provided by the central government for the development works in Punjab while there is no contribution from the State government.
