Court directs PP to file objections; next date of hearing March 15

JAMMU: The main accused J&K Waqf Board Member Sohail Kazmi was absent on Thursday from court proceedings while the Jammu police filed its report in the case registered against Sohail Kazmi for allegedly demanding and receiving bribe for arranging government job.
The police filed its report today affirming the complainant’s statement that he paid Rs 5 lakh for the government job to Sohail Kazmi. Meanwhile, the court has directed the Public Prosecutor to file objections on next date of hearing while the interim anticipatory bail of Kazmi has been extended upto March 15.
Kazmi was booked for luring unemployed youth of government jobs in lieu of money. FIR was registered at Peer Mitha Police Station. Earlier, Kazmi was granted interim anticipatory bail till March 9, 2023. Before that the Court of Principal District & Session Judge Jammu had granted interim anticipatory bail to J&K Waqf Board member Sohail Kazmi till February 23, 2023.
As per the details, a written complaint was lodged by Dr. K L Sharma with Police Station Peer Mitha that Waqf Board member Sohail Kazmi, took Rs 5 lakh from the complaint in lieu of providing the fourth class job in a Government Department in 2021. The complainant also presented recorded phone calls substantiating his claim. FIR 12/2023 under sections 420 PIC has been registered against Sohail Kazmi at Police Station Peer Mitha. Today, the police also apprised the court that the investigation into this case is continuing.
