Young lineman electrocuted, body hangs on cables

POONCH, May 21: A young daily wager, working in Power Development Department (PDD), as Lineman was electrocuted to death while he was repairing line on electric poles at Baila village in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district today.
Family members, elected representatives of the area and local villagers said that the lineman died due to the sheer negligence of PDD staff. When the linemen was repairing line, some one at the Station turned the power supply on resulting into his death. Several similar incidents have took place in the area but no body was punished so far.
People expressed anger and said that even after the 2 hours of the matter, no senior officer of the concerned department reached the spot, while they demanded justice for the family of daily wager.
The dead body hanging on the cables was later removed and taken to Sub District Hospital Mandi, where after performing legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
Deceased was identified as Mohd Younis (39), son of Mohd Bashir, a resident of Chakatroo.
Station House Officer, Mandi, Mukhtiar Ali said that a case FIR number 51/2023 under sections 304-A IPC has been registered and investigation taken up.
