The excise department of Delhi government has set a new record by selling liquor worth over Rs 526 crore in the two weeks leading up to Diwali this year. The department sold nearly 3 crore bottles, a 44% increase compared to the same period last year. The sale of liquor before Diwali starts picking up after Dussehra and peaks a few days before the festival. The increase in sales can be attributed to more liquor stores in Delhi and people’s trust in the quality of liquor available there.
