China builds vast web of overseas ports: Can it turn them into military bases?

China has established a global network of commercial ports as part of its efforts to expand its economic influence and naval presence, according to a report by the Council on Foreign Relations. China now operates or has ownership in ports on every continent except Antarctica, with involvement in 101 port projects. While China has limited overseas bases compared to the US, it is focused on becoming a major commercial power that exerts control over international sea-lanes and ports.
