The tunnel collapse in Uttarkashi could have been much worse if it had occurred on a regular day instead of on Diwali. Currently, 40 people are trapped inside, but on a regular day, there would have been 150 to 200 workers inside. The collapse happened just an hour before the end of the night shift, which saw low attendance due to the holiday. Some workers, like Mamlesh Rawat and Girish, were lucky to be outside, but are concerned for their colleagues. Rescue efforts are underway, with worker Vikas Yadav assisting.
