Gurpurab celebrated with religious fervour in Jammu

JAMMU: The Prakash Purab (birthday celebration) of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety and devotion on Monday here at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev, Chand Nagar, Jammu. A large number of devotees participated.
One of the most celebrated Sikh Gurus and the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji is widely revered, and his birth anniversary is celebrated as Guru Nanak Jayanti every year.
A large number of devotees from Sikh Community and other followers of Guru Nanak Dev Ji from different communities visited Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev, Chand Nagar, Jammu . The Gurdwara was highly decorated and the devotees started visiting since early morning to seek blessings of the great Guru.
The day started with an ‘Akhand Path’ where a verse from the holy Guru Granth Sahib recited by Ragies.
While speaking on the life and message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, preachers said that great Guru traveled extensively to spread the message of peace and love for entire humanity. Preachers said that Guru Nanak Sahib’s stand against oppression and respect for women are other revolutionary messages for entire humanity.
