To prevent the farmers from entering the state, Haryana Police blocked GT Road, the fastest route from Punjab cities to Delhi, without warning. The GT Road border, which falls on National Highway-44, is known as the Shambhu barrier and falls between Punjab’s Patiala and Haryana’s Ambala districts. Haryana’s Sadopur border with Punjab, which falls on the Ambala-Chandigarh road (NH-152), is still operational. However, heavy police force has been deployed there. The border at Shambhu was sealed on the Haryana side with concrete barriers.
