ISTANBUL, Mar 31: Turkish authorities have detained 51 people suspected of having ties to the Islamic State terrorist group in a four-day operation spanning 21 provinces, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Sunday.
On Tuesday, the minister reported 147 detentions in 30 Turkish provinces over suspected IS links.
“Fifty-one people detained in a four-day operation against the IS in 21 provinces,” Yerlikaya said on X.
Authorities carried out the operation in Istanbul and Antalya and recovered a trove of documents belonging to the terrorist group.
Turkey detained nearly 3,000 people over suspected ties to the IS between June 1, 2023 and March 25, the minister said earlier this week. (UNI)
