Indicating readiness for an increase in international visitors, Afghanistan’s sole five-star hotel, the Serena, has recently reopened its women’s spa and salon to foreign women following an extended shutdown. However, access to these services requires foreigners to present their passports, and women whose IDs indicate they were born in Afghanistan are prohibited from entry.
