RAMBAN, May 29: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar foiled bovine smuggling attempts and registered 7 FIRs, arrested 7 bovine smugglers, rescued 97 bovines and seized 7 vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Batote intercepted a vehicle and found 12 bovines loaded in it in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. One person was arrested in this case.
In another instance, cops from Police Station Chanderkote intercepted 5 vehicles and during their search found 48 bovines loaded inside in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. Five persons were arrested in this regard.
In yet another instance, cops from Police Station Ramban intercepted one vehicle and during its checking found 37 bovines loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. One person was arrested in this case.
Police registered FIR with No. 76/2024 at Police Station Batote, FIR with Nos. 79/80/81/82/83 of 2024 at Police Station Chanderkote and FIR with No. 124/2024 at Police station Ramban under Sections 188 IPC and Under Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Investigation in these cases was started till last reports.
