43 detained in temple vandalism case

REASI, July 4: Police have so far detained 43 persons, including 24 suspects, in connection with the alleged vandalism at a Shiv Temple in Dharmari area of Arnas.
Sharing the details, SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma said that a total of 43 suspects have been rounded up for questioning and further investigations into the case are ongoing on.
The place of worship was found vandalized by a visitor in a village in Dharmari area, last Saturday, sparking tension and protests in Reasi district.

As photos and videos of the vandalism went viral, the locals and some Hindu organizations held protests at various places across Jammu region while Reasi and Katra towns observed bandh.
The Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of law and formed a Special Investigation Team, headed by DySP to identify and arrest the culprits.
According to SSP Reasi, the SIT is working on various clues to crack the case and requesting people to maintain law and order. She also appealed to the people of Reasi to remain calm and maintain peace and communal harmony.
“The culprit involved in the incident will be brought in front of public very soon. Reasi Police are committed to solving the case and tracing the culprits at the earliest,” she maintained.
