JAMMU, July 4: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brig (Retd) BD Mishra today said the people of Ladakh played major role in 1999 Kargil war and stood fully behind the Army and expressed confidence that if there is a war they will wholeheartedly support the Indian Army.

Speaking to reporters after flagging off the women bike rally in Leh, Brig Mishra said the Pakistani infiltrators were killed and pushed back to their territory by the Indian Army in 1999 war.

“People of Ladakh played major role in the war by fully supporting the Indian Army by providing the troops all kind of logistics,’’ he said, adding the Ladakhis made the Army victory practical.
The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh said he was confident that if war happens again, the people of Ladakh will fully support the Indian Army.
Earlier, All Women Bike Rally was flagged off at Hall of Fame at Leh by Brigadier Mishra in the presence of Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps and Vimal Sumbly, Head Business – Premium at TVS Motor Company.
The challenging rally records participation from 25 experienced women riders full of grit and determination volunteering from different regions of India and consisting of service women of Armed Forces, military spouses and civil enthusiasts riding atop TVS Apache, RTR 200 and TVS Ronin motorcycles.
This initiative not only aims at honouring the spirit of Kargil Vijay Diwas but also highlighting ‘Unity in Cultural and Ethnic Diversity’. The Rally will be conducted over a period of 12 days, covering a host of challenging rides over 2000 kms across the length and breadth of UT of Ladakh.
The rally is planned to give the riders an opportunity to commemorate the gallant sacrifice by the Armed Forces and pay homage at all the War Memorials located in the UT of Ladakh.
While taming the inhospitable terrain in Ladakh, the riders will also cross the world’s two highest motorable passes of Khardung La and Umling La, before culminating their challenge at the Kargil War Memorial.
The rally will seek to motivate youth, especially young girls and women, enroute, by a variety of curated events and interactions to motivate them to strive for excellence in all spheres and to showcase coordination, congruence and collaboration between civil industry and Indian Army.

Meanwhile, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army’s Leh based Fire and Fury Corps Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla today visited the forward areas of Ladakh to assess the operational preparedness of troops deployed at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
“GOC Fire and Fury Corps visited the forward areas of Forever in Operations Division”, firefurycorp posted on X (formerly twitter).
The GOC appreciated the high standard of operational preparedness, professionalism and steadfastness of the troops deployed in the difficult terrain.
