DGP sanctions Rs 2.04 cr special welfare relief

SRINAGAR, Sept 24: Director General of Police, J&K, RR Swain, has sanctioned Rs 2.04 crore as special welfare relief for the Next of Kin (NoK) of deceased police personnel and SPOs who passed away while in service.
Additionally, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh has been approved for the marriage of a martyr’s daughter.
The relief includes Rs 22 lakh each for the dependents or legal heirs of nine deceased police personnel who succumbed to illness during service.
Immediate relief of Rs 1 lakh had already been provided to the families for last rites. The sanctioned amount is drawn from the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
In a separate sanction, Rs 6 lakh has been approved for the family of SPO Deepak Sharma, who passed away while engaged with the department. An initial Rs 50,000 had already been disbursed for last his rites.
