JAMMU, Sept 24: In continuation of the SVEEP activities, GGM Science College Jammu organised a friendly T- 20 cricket match at JKCA hostel ground under the patronage of Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta.
The match was organised between 5th Semester team (captained by Mohd Sajad) and 3rd/1st Semester team (captained by Sujal Sharma).
In the beginning, Principal of the College interacted with the players of both the teams and made them realise vibrant tapestry of Indian democracy where every citizen holds a brush to shape the future of the nation by casting vote.
Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma Incharge Cricket game said that top 15 performers would be selected for the final college cricket team.
During the event Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Physical Director Sports Department explained in depth the importance of games in students’ life.
Dr. Sunil Dutt, Convener Sports Committee also spoke on the occasion.
The cricket match was won by Vth Semester team and Kartik Mehra of Semester V was declared Man of the Match.
In first inning Semester-III gave a target of 108 runs, Dilshant Thakur scored 50 while from 5th Semester Kartik Mehra and Rahul Thakur took 3 wickets each, Nitin took 2 wickets and Sachin took 1 wicket.
In reply 5th Semester scored 109 runs easily in 11.5 overs by losing two wickets.
Sajjad scored 41, Jatin scored 34, Bhupinder and Raghav Salathia took 1 wicket each. The winning team was congratulated by Principal for their shining performance.
The entire proceedings of the match were coordinated by Dr. Arun Sharma (Member Sports Committee) and Prof. Vishal Sharma (Member SVEEP Cell).
