Shireen Kalra participates in Summit of Future at UN General Assembly in New York

JAMMU: In a rare honour, author Shireen Kalra attended the United Nations General Assembly Summit of the Future Action Days at the UN Headquarters in New York held on 20th and 21st of September.
Representing the United Nations Millennium Fellowship-a global movement of young changemakers led by the Millennium Campus Network in partnership with UN Academic Impact-Shireen during the course of the summit engaged with a diverse group of world leaders and experts.
The Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly brought together young leaders from around the world to focus on strategies for achieving sustainable development goals that are inclusive and equitable. The summit emphasized collaboration and innovative solutions to address global challenges, ensuring a peaceful and sustainable future for all.
Keynote speakers in the summit included UN Secretary-General António Guterres, heads of member states, high-ranking UN officials, ambassadors, and industry leaders. Google CEO Sundar Pichai also addressed the Summit.
In addition to the Summit, Shireen also participated in several key civil society events during the United Nations General Assembly week, including Goalkeepers 2030 hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Big Bets for Climate Futures at the Rockefeller Foundation, Her Power hosted by Foreign Policy x Mastercard, and the UNDP Impact Lounge.
An alumina of St Mary’s Presentation Convent School Jammu, Shireen is currently pursuing an MSc in Higher Education (Policy) at the University of Oxford. Shireen is also a two-time published author.
