JK Public School Kunjwani students visit AIIMS Jammu

JAMMU: A contingent of 30 students from Grade XI (Medical stream) of JK Public School Kunjwani had the unique opportunity to visit the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu.
The educational trip was organized with the objective of providing the students a firsthand experience of modern medical facilities and to inspire interest in the field of healthcare and medical sciences.
The students, accompanied by their teachers, namely, Sheetal Khajuria, PGT Biology and Dheeraj Kumar, PGT Physics arrived at AIIMS Jammu in the morning hours.
They were warmly welcomed by the hospital administration and given an introductory briefing about the institution, its history, and its role in the healthcare system of India.
The visit began with an orientation session led by Dr Mohd Anwar-Ul-Khaliq, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Hospital Administration, AIIMS Jammu. He gave a detailed presentation on the various departments of AIIMS, highlighting the cutting-edge medical treatments and technologies used in patient care. Students were briefed on how AIIMS plays a crucial role in providing specialized healthcare services to people from different regions.
After the orientation, the students were taken on a guided tour of key departments including:
Outpatient Department (OPD): Students learned how patients are received and treated in various clinics, from initial consultation to diagnosis.
Radiology Department: The students were shown the latest medical imaging technologies such as MRI and CT scanners, and how they are used in diagnosing complex health conditions.
Emergency Department: Students witnessed the operations of the emergency department and were briefed on the importance of immediate medical interventions during emergencies.
Operation Theatre (OT): They were given a glimpse into a sterile operation theater and introduced to the technology that assists surgeons in performing critical surgeries.
As part of the educational aspect of the visit, students were shown live demonstrations of basic first-aid procedures. They were taught how to administer CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in emergency situations and how to manage minor injuries. This hands-on experience left a lasting impact on the students.
The highlight of the visit was an interactive session with Prof (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta the Founder Director & CEO of AIIMS Jammu alongwith a panel of doctors from various specialties. The students enthusiastically asked questions ranging from career opportunities in the medical field to the role of AI and robotics in modern medicine.
Prof (Dr) Gupta encouraged them to pursue science and healthcare as viable career options and explained the importance of dedication and hard work in the field.
On behalf of JKPS Kunjwani management, staff and students, Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore expressed gratitude to Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Founder Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu alongwith Dr. Sanjolly Gupta, PA to the Director for allowing JKiians to visit the premier institution and for giving them a lifetime experience.
Expressing his gratitude, Principal Rathore stated, “The visit to AIIMS Jammu was an eye-opening experience for the students. It not only gave them a deeper understanding of how a top-tier healthcare institution operates but also sparked an interest in the field of medical sciences. We express our gratitude to the leadership, hospital staff and their teachers for organizing such an insightful visit”.
The trip concluded with a group photograph, capturing the memorable day. The students returned to school with a broader perspective on healthcare and many left with a newfound ambition to contribute to the medical field.
