ANANTNAG: The 3-day South Kashmir Volleyball championship (Boys and girls) organized by Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports council concluded at indoor stadium Bijbehra , Anantnag on Friday.
The club Azgar Club Kulgam clinched championship in boys section by defeating Star Club Pulwama by 3:2 ( sets) score 25:22, 21:25, 25:27, 25:23, 15:13 whereas Shopian C N E I club clinched the championship by defeating Blue Volleyball club Anantnag in girls section (sets) 3:1 score. 24:26, 25:22, 25:18, 25:21.
Sajad Adl. SP Anantnag who was the Chief Guest , gave away prizes to winner and runner up teams on the occasion. The chief guest exhorted youth to adopt sports for their overall growth , well-being and get rid-of all social evils including drug addiction for better future. Reiterating the resolve of the Minister of youth Services and Sports, JKUT Mr Satish Sharma on opening Ceremony day of 3-day day Mega Event, the chief guest called upon the talented, deserving ,outstanding sports men to avail full facilities being provided to them by the Govt for glorifying the name of J&K at National & international level in sports arena.
In this championship in all 12 teams 8 in boys section & 4 in girls section drawn from Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag Distts of South Kashmir participated with sole aim of channelising the energies of youth in constructive and developmental activities. For organsiors it was an uphill task to organize as many as 22 (15-boys & 7 gilrs) matches within in a stipulated period of 3 days which was accomplished with a dedicated team of recognized Volleyball referees effectively.
Kuldeep Magotra Chief Executive officer VAJK on behalf of Volleyball Association of J&K thanked all stakeholders especially J&K Sports council, Youth Services and Sports department for their continuous support in making this 3rd South Kashmir Volleyball Championship a grand success. He appreciated efforts of all office bearers of four Distts for their contribution with out which it would not have been possible to complete the event successfully. Mohd Akram JKAS district treasury officer, and Nusraat Gazala Divisional sports officer Kashmir were the guest of honour and other dignitaries were Abdul Ahad Shah vice president volleyball association, Nelofer Habib secretary kulgam, Mudasir Dar secretary pulwama,and Muzamil and Mutahir Shabir incharge district volleyball association shopian.
The dignitaries/officials/ players were honored by presenting Mementos/ trophies/ individual prizes by CEO Kuldip Magotra, Mohd Tariq Joint Secretary, VAJK.
President Volleyball Association of J&K Siddharth Daluja congratulated winner/runner-up teams for their splendid performance, and urged them to keep competitive spirits alive for their better future. He also appreciated all officials/referees/organizers for toiling hard for making this prestigious Championship successful. Today’s officials were Shabbir Ahmed, Sidarat Hussain, Manzoor Khan, Shah Faisal, Ikhlaq Ahmed, Intazar Ali and Ajaz Ahmed.
