J&K BJP unit commemorates Accession Day in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday celebrated October 26 as ‘Accession Day’ to commemorate the arrival of the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir on this day in 1947, followed by signing of the Instrument of Accession by Maharaja Hari Singh. The event brought together party workers, senior leaders, and citizens to honour this significant day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Accession Day has existed since 1947. It was some local political parties that misguided youth, resulting in bloodshed and filling of graveyards, all these years. These parties are still yearning for violence in Kashmir. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2019, ended their propaganda,” BJP leaders said.
BJP General Secretary (Org) Jammu and Kashmir, Ashok Koul, who was present on the occasion, emphasized the importance of Accession Day as a reminder of the Union Territory’s commitment to unity and integrity within India. He highlighted the significance of Maharaja Hari Singh’s decision to accede to India in 1947 and underscored BJP’s dedication to preserving the cultural heritage and historical legacy of Jammu and Kashmir.
Party members expressed a shared commitment to advancing the vision of a united and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. The ceremony included patriotic addresses and reflections on the role of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in strengthening India’s democratic fabric.
Talking to media persons, General Secretary Organisation, Ashok Koul said that security agencies are working to curb terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that terror attacks are not new, such a situation was seen in Jammu even before the elections but the security grid is tight and strong and we hope that those responsible for the recent attacks will be dealt very soon.
