BRICS at a crossroads

Sir,
The recent BRICS summit in Kazan highlights a crucial shift in the global order, as the bloc seeks to counterbalance Western-dominated institutions.
Expanding beyond Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, BRICS now includes influential economies like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, giving it more clout to advocate for reform in global financial systems and push towards de-dollarization.
However, BRICS is at a crossroads: while China and Russia lean towards an anti-West stance, India and Brazil maintain ties with the West, seeing BRICS as a platform for non-aligned cooperation.
India’s role is pivotal in bridging East and West within BRICS, promoting a balanced approach for the Global South.
As BRICS evolves, it remains essential for the West to engage constructively with the bloc, especially with India, to foster a cooperative, inclusive international order.
