SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Police in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir’s on Saturday attached a one-storey residential house and a shop of an alleged drug peddler worth Rs 50 lakhs.
Police said a house and a shop valued at Rs 50 lakhs, and belonging to a notorious drug peddler Shabroz Ahmad Wani of Nowgam Poshkeeri, Srigufwara was attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“The attached properties are believed to be proceeds of crime, earned through Wani’s illicit drug trafficking activities,” a police statement said. ” He has been a prominent figure in the local narcotics trade, linked to substantial seizures of contraband substances, including SpasmoProxyvon and Codeine Phosphate.”
Police said this action underscores their commitment to dismantling drug networks and ensuring that those involved in such crimes face the full force of the law.
Meanwhile, Police arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla district of North Kashmir and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Police said two persons identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Rather of Karhama and Rahil Rahman Ganie of Ratnipora Payeen were arrested at a checkpoint established at Kunzer.
“During search, 40 grams of charas like substances were recovered from their possession,” police said.
Similarly, two other persons identified as Javid Ahmad Rather of Rambailgarh Mirgund Srinagar and Iqbal Hussain Sari Bandi Uri were arrested in separate places.
