Jammu, Nov 13: Jammu Police have arrested a constable with heroin and cash here from Government Medical and Hospital.
Police said that one selection grade constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police identified as Mohammad Mukhtiyar, residence of Geloti, District Udhampur, presently staying in Beli Charana area of Jammu, was arrested on reliable information.
The cop was selling narcotics for profit generation in the premises of Government Medical College, Jammu, said police, adding that on receiving information, police, along with the executive magistrate, started their search and recovered 15 grams of heroin and cash worth Rs. 9000 from his possession.
Arrested constable is posted in 12th Battalion of Armed Police in Battalion Zewan, Srinagar and has been placed under suspension.
As per the police, the accused is part of a drug syndicate, which is active in Jammu and is selling drugs to innocent youth of the area for gaining undue profits from the sale of narcotics and is responsible for overdose deaths due to drugs happening in the area.
Notably, a third FIR is registered this week after the launch of the Zero Tolerance policy against drug peddlers.
On November 6, one police constable was arrested along with his two wives with 33 grams of heroin from the Janipur area.
