JAMMU, Nov 15: The ongoing 68th National School Games in Fencing U-14 Boys and Girls, organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports under the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), witnessed stellar performances on its fourth day today at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
Displaying exceptional skill and poise, Ashwin Kumar of DAV, Keshar Raj of Bihar and Jaireet Kaur of Punjab secured gold medals in their respective events. In the U-14 Boys Epee Individual event, Ashwin Kumar emerged victorious, while bronze medals were claimed by Loikhuram Deepu of Manipur, Deepanshu of Punjab, and Jyot Akabari of Gujarat.
In the U-14 Girls Foil Individual, Keshar Raj of Bihar clinched gold, with Shaurya Ganesh Ingawale of IBSSO taking silver. Bronze medals went to Jejau Jeevan Patil of Maharashtra and Sneha Yadav of Chhattisgarh.
Jaireet Kaur of Punjab dominated the U-14 Girls Epee Individual event, winning gold. Silver went to Piyanganbi Naoroibam of Manipur, while Asmi Dhamne of Maharashtra and Komalpreet Kaur of Punjab bagged bronze.
Although the Jammu and Kashmir teams have already earned two gold and two silver medals in the tournament, they couldn’t secure any medals on the fourth day.
The medallists were felicitated by Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Ved Prakash, alongside Harvinder Kaur, Convener Ceremonies Committee. The event owes its success to the expertise of competition director Rashid Ahmed and support from reputed coaches like Ujjwal Gupta, Abdul Qadir and Anthony Mattoo.
A meeting chaired by Ved Prakash with coaches and managers of participating states reviewed arrangements for the upcoming U-17 Boys and Girls fencing events, receiving positive feedback on the tournament’s management.
