LeT militant involved in attack on migrant worker arrested

SRINAGAR, Nov 18: Police today arrested a militant affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) involved in an attack on migrant worker and recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from his possession in the Tral area of Awantipora.

Police said that acting on specific intelligence, Awantipora Police along with Army (42RR) and CRPF (180 Bn) arrested a militant affiliated with LeT from orchards in village Pinglish area of Police Station Tral.
He has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Chopan son of Abdul Rahman Chopan, resident of Lurgam Tral. “Incriminating materials along with arms and ammunition including a pistol, 18 pistol rounds and two magazines have been recovered from his possession”.
According to a police spokesman, the preliminary investigation revealed that he has been involved in several militancy related activities in South Kashmir Range.
“Pertinent to mention here that he was involved in case FIR No. 114/2024 under sections 16 of ULAP Act 7/27 of IA Act and 109 BNS of Police Station Tral registered related to firing upon one outside labourer Shubam Kumar resident of Bijnore UP on 24/10/2024 in which the said labourer was critically injured”.
